It is a slow ballad with elegant chords and an emotional melody that flows from one instrument to the other. There are gorgeous moments in this work where just the clarinet family is playing and then the brass is added. The work is not too challenging technically, but it will be tough to get it just right. The melody has to be passed delicately from section to section so the phrase structure is not broken. Ends of phrases and releases will be another area to be worked on. Along with the music we include a demonstration CD that features this work along with many others. It will be a useful tool for the director and the performers.
