This witty and entertaining movie brought along some amazingly strong musical themes. While paying homage to classic World War II movie themes, kazoos and whistling are cleverly incorporated for a bit of whimsy.

Technical Notes: The percussion 1 part is labeled "Percussion 1 (Snare Drum, Bass Drum)". The percussion 2 part is labeled "Percussion 2 (Mark Tree, Crash Cymbal, Small Crash Cymbal, Anvil, Gong, Triangle)". The mallet percussion part is labeled "Mallet Percussion (Bells, Chimes)".

In the original soundtrack recording for the movie "Chicken Run", a group of kazoos and whistlers were used to add a little humor to the otherwise military-style themes of the music. In this arrangement, these kazoo and whistling parts appear in the flute, oboe, and clarinet parts starting with the pick-ups to measure 22 and concluding with the down-beat at measure 30. These parts are stated again from measures 57 to 65.

In flutes and oboe, these parts are written in concert pitch and in the sounding octave. In the clarinet parts, these parts are written transposed in case you prefer to have your group play these parts rather than whistling or using kazoos. If you choose to have your group play these parts on their instruments, the flutes and oboes will need to play the kazoo part an octave higher than written.

My Foolish Heart
My Foolish Heart (From "My Foolish Heart") - Jazz Ensemble
Item number 8898557CC, $40.00

The theme song from the movie "My Foolish Heart" was nominated for an Oscar in 1949, and when you hear Victor Young's delightful melody, you'll see why! Arranger Mark Taylor has made "My Foolish Heart" (the song, not the movie) into an outstanding jazz band piece which features a solo flugelhorn performance. You really have to try this song with your young jazz ensemble!
