Monk tunes are always creative and a bit out of the ordinary. Also out of the GRP All-Star Big Band book, this marvelous orchestration explores a variety of dissonances, textures, and styles. The tempo is slow and alternates with a swing double time feel. Your piano player is featured in the beginning and there is also room for a tenor saxophone solo. Technical Notes: The saxophone parts are labeled "Reed 1", which is for soprano saxophone or flute; "Reed 2", which is for soprano or alto saxophone; "Reed 3", which is for tenor saxophone; "Reed 4", which is soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, or flute; and "Reed 5", which is for baritone saxophone.
