Ghost Dance
"Ghost Dance" can be performed by your band as a tribute to our native American heritage. It is based of the history of the Lakota (Sioux) nation, and reflects the tragedies they encountered, as well as their strong spirit. The music will communicate a strong and powerful message to your audience. Estimated Performance Time: 16:30 Technical Notes: It is important that wooden ocarinas be used for the performance of this piece. The ocarinas should be placed at the end of a row so that their sound can be projected toward the audience. The instrumentation lists a tape of a baby crying, which is no longer available. Assuming you are able to supply a tape, it should come from within the band. Usually this is done with a cassette player with large speakers placed somewhere in the middle of the second or third row. Composer(s): This piece was composed by Quincy C. Hilliard. Publisher: This piece was published by Boosey & Hawkes.
