Jazz Classics for the Young Ensemble - Grade 3 This cornerstone of the swingin' Count Basie era helped define a style and lend identity to one of the greatest big bands of all time. Mark's chart for young players allows you to attain that important Basie sound without the extreme technical demands. Including written or ad lib. solos for piano, tenor, trombone, alto, trumpet and even bass, this is a marvelous study in background riffs followed by full ensemble power. A treat for any band!

Prairie Schooner
Prairie Schooner - Concert Band
Item number 8897107CC, $48.00

From 1843 to 1869, more than a half-million people from several small towns along the Missouri River set out to follow the Oregon Train. Their goal was to begin new lives in what is now the western United States. Many emigrants traveled in wagons that carried their worldly goods along with supplies needed to survive the trip. These wagons were known as "prairie schooners" because of their distinctive shape and the fact that they provided an alternative to traveling by sea-going vessels. Through music, this composition portrays four scenes along the Oregon Trail.
