This is an imaginative piece that highlights every section of the band. Estimated Performance Time: 3:45 Technical Notes: "Cloudburst" opens with a bright cheerful theme in the high winds, answered by the brass. The two sections join together in a tutti passage, seamlessly leading into a warm, quiet section featuring the woodwinds and low brass. The middle section of Cloudburst features a sudden flash of lightning, thunder and rain, courtesy of the percussion section. With an ostinato figure in the woodwinds, the piece builds excitement woodwind and percussion lines. This musical downpour subsides as the playful theme returns in a final tutti section, leaving your audience with an uplifting close to the dramatic scene.
