The full-sounding beginning leads to a stately A theme, which is followed by a more delicate, sensitive B section. The return of the A theme in the coda brings this fun piece to a rousing conclusion. "Canyon Creek Overture" is written in A-B-A form, beginning with a full-sounding allegro moderato. Care should be taken at measures 11, 12, and 29 to keep the repeated rhythmic patterns of the accompaniment from becoming too heavy. The contrasting andante beginning at measure 42 is to be flowing and legato. The final four measures of the coda should build dramatically from piano to forte.
