This rendition retains all of the original energy and enthusiasm with the addition of contemporary percussion writing, and you will appreciate the attention to the scoring details. This is the perfect major work to focus attention on your ensemble. It is a highly recommended piece. Technical Notes: The bells part is labeled at "mallet percussion" in the score. The 1st percussion part is for snare drum and bass drum. The 2nd percussion part is for suspended cymbal and triangle.   Program Notes: The ballet "L'oiseau De Feu", or "The Firebird", was commissioned and first performed at the Paris Opera in June of 1910. Stravinsky later made two arrangements of the music for orchestral suite. This "Firebird Suite" is arguably Strvinsky's most popular music, and in the "Finale" he introduces an irregular metric pattern similar to that in "The Rite Of Spring", a style that would later become his trademark.
