Brandy Station March
This march is named for a small town in northern Virginia where one of the most important early battles of the Civil War was fought. The town, Brandy Station, is very near the composer's boyhood home of Culpeper (pronounced Culpepper). This march was specifically designed to be the easiest march to date in this series. "Brandy Station March" is a great piece for your young band to start off with and learn from. Estimated Performance Time: 2:10 Technical Notes: This part only includes 1 score. The cover and score says that is should have 4, but the publisher has since changed that. Teaching Aids For The Director: Ranges are very limited, as are rhythms and articulations. The snare drum has no rolls of any kind and only one flam- on the final "bump" note. The percussion part is repetitive and based on the first four measure pattern. Accidentals are even limited to E natural and A flat concert, and then only in a few parts. In view of the simplicity of this march, extra effort and care should be taken to exaggerate the dynamics. An explanation of the D.S., Coda and the long repeated strain in the Coda with its Fine ending is in order. Composer(s): This piece was composed by John Edmondson. Publisher: This piece was published by Hal Leonard Corporation. Series: This piece is part of the series "Hal Leonard Discovery Band Series".
