Blockbuster Percussion
Designed to showcase the entire percussion section, this dynamite feature is full of energy, drive and percussion spirit. With "Blockbuster Percussion", you'll get to hear percussion instruments of all shapes and sizes. From exciting xylophones to drums with and without heads, this feature is certain to be a blockbuster for any concert. Estimated Performance Time: 2:35 Technical Notes: The keyboard percussion is labeled "Mallet Percussion (Two Players)" and contains the bells and xylophone parts. The 1st percussion part is labeled "Percussion 1 (Two Players)" and contains the snare drum and bass drum parts. The 2nd percussion part is labeled "Percussion 2 (Two Players)" and contains the crash cymbals (2 pair - medium & large) and bongos parts. The snare drum and field drum are to play together unless otherwise indicated. A suspended cymbal may be substituted for one pair of crash cymbals, if necessary. Notes to the director: Since there are so many instruments included in this feature, logistical setup will be crucial. Here are a few possible ways to include the piece in your program without having to move equipment while your audience waits. If you are planning on having the percussion section "up front" for better visibility (every percussion piece is as visual as it is audible), you can use it as the last number of the first half of the program (if you have an intermission) or use it as the last piece of the program.
